Welcome to my season of ReWirement! I am so happy you found me here and equally excited to introduce you to my new trademark: Spoken by Duckett. In this new season that officially began on July 1, 2025 following 40 combined years of government service, pastoring, and superintendency, I am redirecting my energy and gifts to the life-giving ministries of coaching, preaching, facilitating, and writing both prose and poetry. I look forward to us staying connected during the birth and growth of Spoken!
I am also delighted to announce the news of my book of poetry entitled SACRED SLAM: Spoken Word as Sacred Art for Sacred Space. For years, I've had the pleasure of sharing poetry at various churches and venues, and often someone would ask where they could find my poems. About the Author
Rev. Dr. Wanda Bynum Duckett has served in pastoral ministry with the United Methodist Church for 18 years, after having been ordained an Itinerate Elder by the African Methodist Episcopal Church. In 2012, she transferred to serve as an Elder in the Baltimore Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church and ministered for eight years as the Baltimore Metropolitan District Superintendent until her retirement from appointed ministry in July 2025. Rev. Duckett continues to offer her gifts of coaching, preaching, facilitating, and writing poetry and prose under her brand, Spoken by Duckett. Her life and work are guided by Romans 8:28 which testifies that, "All things work together for good to them who love God, to them who are the called according to God’s purpose.” Dr. Duckett is a native of Baltimore, Maryland where she currently resides.

PREACHING
Dr. Duckett is trained in CAST (Coach Approach Skills Training) and Mentor Coaching. She specializes in, but is not limited to, coaching for clergy and congregations. She believes that coaching is a journey that, when taken together, helps the client to clarify and build capacity to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Rev. Dr. Duckett is an ordained itinerate elder, with an earned M.A. in Theology, M.Div, and D.Min. Preaching is a joy that allows her to participate in the Holy Spirit’s impartation of biblical truth to God’s people today. She also enjoys leading worship and officiating in moments that honor and celebrate God’s presence in life, death, and everything in between.
POETRY
Wanda has been sharing spoken word poetry for over 20 years. Her doctoral dissertation, Sacred Slam: Spoken Word as Sacred Art for Sacred Space, makes the case that spoken word is Sacred, Liberating, Adaptive, and Missional. She enjoys offering her original poems and also writes commissioned pieces for special events and to promote social justice.
FACILITATING
Dr. Duckett is a workshop facilitator and trainer. She has shared her knowledge and experience with groups in and beyond the church, including bible study groups, women’s retreats, discipleship groups, seminary classes, and young people’s gatherings. Facilitation can be chosen from a packaged offering or developed for a particular audience or purpose.
